2023 : LP leadership not properly organised, may cost party presidency—chieftain

A leader of the Labour Party has frowned at the leadership style of the party, which he said could cost it the presidency in 2023.

Chief Dr Patrick Osagie Eholor, while responding to questions from journalists in his country home in Benin City, argued that that as a party that suddenly gained popularity in a hurry, it needed to carry Nigerian ls along as winning election required the collective effort of every stakeholder.

On the campaign council list, he said “Let me simply say they didn’t have the necessary consultations and therefore, some names were not in the list. We were looking forward to the amended list expected to be put soon, but we have moved beyond that point.

What I think is that the job is becoming overwhelming for them at the national level and they need to carry more people along, so that the job can be easier.

So, such a mistake should not repeat itself again because a lot of people were slighted, no matter how they tried to do the damage control, some people were slighted by it.

When it comes to party organisation, they(leadership) don’t really have it. I am a Labour man, so I know that.

They can do better, if they can allow others to come in and assist. Because it’s not a one man show, it’s a political party. I won’t be shy to say we are not near perfection, but we can do better. I have tried to proffer many solutions to them and they didn’t take me serious, but I don’t want us to fail, I want us to win.

If they refuse to take some of us who have a lot to offer serious, they might regret it.
