Abia inaugurates panel to investigate alleged misconduct of some traditional rulers 

 

The Abia State Government has inaugurated a Board of Inquiry to investigate allegations of improper conducts brought against some Traditional Rulers in the State.

 

The Board of Inquiry has Justice Igbo Akomas Rtd as the Chairman and Mrs Gold Dyboh as the Secretary.

 

Speaking during the inauguration the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Prince Uzor Nwachukwu said their terms of reference include inviting and questioning all concerned, in the cause of the investigation, making necessary recommendations to the Governor and evaluate appropriate sanctions.

 

Prince Nwachukwu explained that Government will support them to carry out the assignment disclosing that they have three weeks to submit their reports.

 

The Commissioner stated that the present Administration is not interested in witch- hunting anybody but will ensure that the integrity of the Traditional Institution in the State is maintained.

 

Responding, Chairman of the Board of Inquiry Justice Igbo Akomas Rtd and a Member of the Board also Chairman State Traditional Rulers Council Eze Linus Mba thanked the Governor for finding them worthy of the assignment and assured that they will carry out the assignment diligently in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

 

Other Members of the Board of Inquiry include Eze Linus Mba, Eze Nelson Nmerengwa and Mrs Nkechi Ikechi.
