The state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Umuahia ended yesterday with Mazi Enyinnaya Harbor emerging party chairman.
Below is the acceptance speech of the new party chairman-elect for Abia State:
The Chairman APC Abia State Congress Committee Rt Hon Babtunde Kolawole and his 6 other colleagues serving the mandate given by our Party’s CECPC led by the National Chairman, H.E. Rt Hon Mai Bala Buni, Staff of INEC from both Abia office and National Headquarters Abuja, representatives of Nigeria Police, DSS, NSCDC, Nigeria Army and Navy. Gentlemen of the Press, wonderful party members.
It is with utmost gratitude to God that I stand today as the State Chairman Elect of the largest party in Africa – The All Progressives Congress (APC) Abia State Chapter. What’s happening here today is a culmination of many years of careful and strategic planning, and dedicated execution by our extra ordinary leader and Abia’s Most Valuable Politician – High Chief Ikechi Emenike and the First Daughter of Abia – Rt Hon Nkeiruka Onyejiocha and many others that time would not allow me mention now.
APC Abia State stands today at the threshold of a historic breakthrough that had eluded her since 2014. With today’s Congress so peacefully conducted by the National Committee, we are now poised to rebuild our great party in Abia State. Our doors are now wider open to receive all men and women of goodwill that desire to see our dear State take her God-ordained place at the top. Even as we welcome all, our Exco shall not be a breeding ground for anti party activities or tolerate anyone who claim to be APC at day and other parties at night. We accept the mandate to build a big united party in Abia.
Many had doubted the genuineness of our cause, or the possibility of our vision but the Bible says even though the vision tarries, wait for it. We have waited and that vision has finally spoken and manifested. Nothing can stop an idea whose time has finally come.
We have come, not just to rebuild the organisation called APC Abia, but also to rebuild the confidence of Abians in our ability to rescue Abia from decades of decay and backwardness occasioned by the inept leadership foisted upon the state by PDP. We have also come to restore their faith in our democracy and our electoral process as typified by our congress today.
Right from here we shall return to the Wards to ensure all our eligible voters are captured and motivated to participate in 2023.
Today is not a day of long speeches but to appreciate God, our Leaders and members for making today possible. Its time to roll up our sleeves and work and that’s what we have been elected to do. Let’s go!
