Spiritual leader of Ndi Igbo, Ogilisi Igbo has again appealed to Igbos and other Christians in Nigeria to bury the dead bodies they keep preserving in mortuaries so that their souls may return to the Creator.
He revealed that the high spate of insecurity, violence, crimes in the region is a result of restless souls agonizing to be liberated through burial.
Ogilisi Igbo said this in a telephone interview, while speaking with our correspondent.
His words “I am appealing to Ndi Igbo, because when strange things happen, we ask questions, why are we experiencing this? We look for the cause. Igbos are not known to be cowards and do not fear anyone. Since the inception of humanity till after the war, we buried our dead quickly and on time. Till the 80s, the mortuaries in Igboland has not been commercialized as a place of reserving dead body, instead of committing the dead to earth once death is confirmed. Then there was no fear no ghosts, we didn’t beg anyone for anything. They were resourceful and creative. There was no cultism, no zombies, no ọnụma, but the problem started when they commercialized mortuaries as a place for keeping the dead.
“That’s the beginning of our problems. I am appealing to Igbos to try this and see. Allow the dead to go back to the creator. There is no reason whatsoever why Christians in Nigeria, Igbos in particular, should continue jampacking mortuaries with dead bodies, to the extent that some dead bodies are up to 10 years, 15 years in the mortuary, 2 years, 4 years. Igbos have provoked the angels and they are waging war against us.
He also stated “The angels do not dwell in any environment littered with corpses. As a matter of fact, the duty of the angel is to guide the soul, and the angel expects every soul to get back to the creator once it demises from the physical body.
“But the idea of moving dead bodies to mortuaries to wait for what is called befitting burial is becoming a norm but it provokes the angels. It’s a war against the angels. “Ekelu olu eke, works are distributed, and angels’ work for the creator is to guide the souls and every soul is important to God.
“God expects that after death, judgment. There is no way a soul of a corpse incarcerated in a mortuary can go back to God, no way. The soul goes back to God after the silver cord is severed. Silver cord is the cord between the spiritual realm and the physical realm. There are two cords attached to the human, the umbilical cord at the entrance of the soul to the earth, which is when a child is born, you sever the cord from the mom and it becomes a living soul. That soul is a breath of God.
“This breath of God needs to get back to God when it demises from the body. By doing that, you have to sever another cord when the body is cut from the soul at death. It’s buried or cremated. That’s why we say, àjà n’alu aja, ntụ n’alu ntụ, dust unto dust, ash unto ash. This is what is required. Once it’s done and the burial is done, the soul now appears before God. But look at the Igbos. The behavior of keeping the soul in the mortuary is abomination before God and the angels have deserted Igbos.
“Igbos have now fizzled into vultures, looking for dead bodies. Dead bodies are not supposed to be taken to churches. Any tent where the dead body is kept is unclean. Whoever enters into that tent is unclean. That’s why you have to take the warning in the Bible, Leviticus chapter 21verse 1 to 4. Numbers 19, verse 11 to 23. Igbos, stop eating corpses. Igbos, come out of vultures, let the vultures flourish in Igbo land again. All the vultures have fizzled into people, Igbos, and they are hungry for corpses. Corpses are not supposed to be littered, they drive angels away. Allow the dead to bury the dead.
“Zombies are generated from the corpses that are not buried or cremated. The adage that says, enie ozu, enie ọnụma, is something I want Igbos to understand. That proverb is not to be taken lightly, Igbos should ask themselves, all the unburied corpses in Igboland, is that not the source of the numerous ọnụma in Igboland? Ndigbo don’t know what’s happening to them.
“What is happening to ndi Igbo and Nigerian Christians, which makes them powerless and scared is because they enjoy keeping corpses. Whatever you use to bury corpses are supposed to be buried at the same time in the grave. Because you can’t put whatever you use on dead bodies on the surface.
“Even when the corpses touches you, you can’t shake hand with people because you are unclean. You must cleanse yourself first. We owe God debt by trapping the dead bodies, we owe the angels debt, by trapping the dead bodies. The highest thing Igbos can do for the dead is to allow their souls to get back to God. When you breathe out without breathing in, you are finished. Our souls are the breath of God, and dwells in the body as a living soul.
“Once we come out of that body, we have to get back to God. If this is not real, I can’t be saying it since 15, 20 years ago, and some people are saying I am sharing my personal opinion. It is not. The Bible has said that mingling with dead bodies is forbidden. It’s only infidels that do that.
Let the Igbos exist, because they don’t have the power to liberate themselves without the guidance of the angels, not any other force. God uses angels to protect his people but these angels cannot dwell where there are littered corpses. What goes around are demons who are working with Satan. Let’s get the corpses buried before it’s too late”.
“We have the example of Mike Ejeagha who instructed the children to bury him without taking him to mortuary, which they did. Dr Dozie Ikedife instructed that he be buried shortly after he dies. They obeyed his instruction without taking his body to the mortuary. Some say, onye nwulu anwụ kee ikpe, ndị dị ndụ ekeghasia, and insist on keeping the parents in the mortuary, as against the wishes of dead. Many who kept their dead in mortuary have even died too, because the dead are not happy and they fight back. That’s why you have so many unclaimed corpses. Most of the corpses are abandoned, and some who kept people in the mortuary get killed by those in the mortuary and both of them are in the mortuary and all are abandoned. The morticians are usually not very sincere, they should give proper record of abandoned corpses. There is a law in Anambra stipulating that no corpse should spend anything beyond 2 months in the morgue.
“What Igbo does, throwing corpses up and down in display is an insult to the Creator. The highest befitting burial you can give the dead if you love the soul is to put it in the grave immediately. That’s what the Muslims do. Celebration of the corpse is not good. Funeral ceremony is okay with the picture of the dead, not the body. The soul of that body you are turning around is crying because without burying it, it becomes a wandering soul, possessing the youths and turning them into criminals comminiting violent crimes. Why can’t our people try and see, that everywhere is littered with dead bodies is a bad omen for Igbos? No dead body should stay on the surface of the earth 24 hours after death, and people should make arrangements for immediate burial as Mike Ejeagha and Dozie Ikedife did”, he concluded.
