ENUGU: APGA Dep Gov. Candidate Edith Ugwuanyi Assures Women of Adequate Representation if Elected

The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Enugu State, Dr. Edith Ugwuanyi on Tuesday assured Enugu State women of adequate representation and protection of their collective interests when Frank Nweke Jr becomes Governor in 2023.

Dr. Ugwuanyi, an accomplished professional nurse and a reputable business executive, gave the assurance while addressing women who trooped out in their large numbers from the various communities of Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state to welcome the APGA team who had come to listen to their needs and discuss plans to meet them.

The Deputy Governorship candidate used the occasion to urge the women to join hands with her to commend the governorship candidate of APGA, Nweke Jr, for choosing a woman of character and caliber, a woman who is highly informed like herself, to be his running mate knowing that she would deliver for the women and children of the state in particular.

The state party Chairman, Ndubuisi Enechionyia, had earlier observed that it was only Nweke that dimmed it fit to choose a woman as his running mate for Governor. This indicates that he knows the worth of women and their invaluable role in driving development in the society.

In his earlier address, Nweke had lauded the sterling qualities of Dr. Ugwuanyi who apart from being an accomplished professional is a people-oriented person who would be reminding him of the promises they have made to the people in the unlikely event that he forgets.

The women who took turns to speak stressed the need for a maternity hospital in the area and the need for water and electricity all of which are basic needs that the PDP-led government has failed to provide the people in nearly 24 years. They said they are tired of the ruling party and their lies over the years and are now ready to cast their votes for the party that truly belongs to the people. They expressed pleasure that Nweke selected a woman as his Deputy Governorship candidate praying that God will grant them success in their quest for a better Enugu State.

Nweke and Dr Ugwuanyi were resolute in their response to deliver on the facilities and infrastructure needed to give them a good quality of life.

Apart from Nweke and his running mate, Dr. Ugwuanyi, other APGA candidates and top party members on the campaign train were the House of Representative Candidate for Nkanu East, Dickson Orji, the House of Representative Candidate for Enugu North and South, Nonso Nnamani, the House of Assembly Candidate for Nkanu East Constituency, Hon. Samson Okereke, the APGA State Woman Leader, Hon. Ngozi Ugwu, amongst others.
