APGA NATIONAL CONVENTION: Prof Ibe Salutes New Leaders

The Abia state Governorship Candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2023 election, Prof Gregory Ibe has congratulated Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa on his emergence as National Chairman of APGA.

Speaking on the heels of the outcome of the recently concluded National Convention of APGA in Awka, Prof Ibe commended the National Leader of the party and Governor of Anambra state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo for ensuring peaceful conduct of the event.

He lauded the immediate past National Chairman of APGA, Ozonkpu Victor Oye and members of his National Working Committee (NWC) for their sacrificial stewardship to the party, which according to him, produced many legacies.

His words, ” While formally appreciating our National Leader and Governor of Anambra state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo for providing peaceful environment that encouraged participation of delegates from across the nation, I want to specially congratulate Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa for his emergence as the youngest National Chairman of a political party in Nigeria”.

Continuing he said, “Sequel to his emergence I want to use this opportunity to charge Barr Ezeokenwa to build on the foundations laid by the NWC of our immediate past National Chairman, Ozonkpu Victor Oye, whose sacrificial stewardship produced many tangible legacies, by uniting and extending the frontiers of the party across the nation.

He should as a matter of urgency strengthen every organ of the party, reconcile differing factions to attain political harmony and embark on grassroots mobilization of new members in order to realize the lofty dream of achieving national spread as conceived by the founding fathers of our party”.
Furthermore, he congratulated other leaders of the party who emerged both at the National Convention and Congresses held at Ward, LGA and State levels.

In his words,” I also want to use this platform to congratulate Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe on his election as a member of our Board of Trustees and Rev Augustine Ehiemere who emerged unopposed as Vice Chairman for South East”.

Reacting to a purported fractionalization of the Abia State Working Committee of APGA, Prof Ibe stated that as leader of the party he refrained from interfering with the conduct of Ward, LGA and State Congresses, chosing rather to maintain unbiased neutrality throughout the duration of the exercise.

According to him,” As leader of the party in Abia, I determined not to interfer with the conduct of the Congresses in order to allow our members elect their chieftains democratically, of course with the guidance of State and National Officers. Now that the NWC has authenticated the election of Ambassador Sunday Onukwubiri as State Chairman at the just concluded National Convention, I want to appeal to the Chief Emmanuel Egwu led faction to please sheath their sword in order to create enabling environment for peaceful resolution of all contentious issues as one united family and in the spirit of ‘Onye Aghala Nwanneya’. Ambassador Onukwubiri on the other hand should be magnanimous in victory by extending the proverbial hand of fellowship to aggrieved members in order to unite the party”,he concluded.
