11 members of the Abia State House of Assembly elected under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, led by the member representing obingwa East state Constituency Hon Solomon Akpulonu has staged a workout from the Abia State House of Assembly plenary going on at the floor of the state House of Assembly.
The drama started when the members objected to the minutes of the last meeting of the House, where issues of appointment of the Principal officers of the House were expunged from the minute book of the House.
According to Hon Akpulonu, the members of the PDP in the state Assembly will approach the party to announce Principal officers of the Majority Party as it is not mandatory that the Speaker will announce it.
The crisis rocking the state Assembly started last week when the Speaker announced a member of the minority party as the majority leader of the state House of Assembly, Stating that Labour Party, YPP & APC came together to form majority.
According to the member representing Ukwa East at the Abia state House of Assembly Hon Godwin Adiele, that is not the proceedings of the House. He said the YPP & APC members should announce their defection to Labour Party at the floor of the House before assuming majority.
