BREAKING: Building marked for demolition since 2016 collapses in Asaba, many trapped, feared dead


A story building housing a church and some shops, opposite Rainoil Petrol Station, before Marble Hill Junction, Okpanam Road, Asaba has collapsed with scores of children feared trapped in the rubble.

According to eyewitness’ account, the building undergoing renovation caved in while a church service was on going with most of the casualty feared to be children as the collapse reportedly happened from the children’s section of the church.

According to eye witness, two children have been rescued as at the time of this report.

Parents are moving helplessly as no one is certain about the fate of those trapped in the rubble.

Emergency workers/rescue team are finding it difficult to go on with rescue operation because of the large crowd gathered at the scene of incident.

It is worthy of mention here that the collapsed had been marked for demolition since October 16, 2016.

As at the time of this report, one person has been confirmed dead, while the number of casualties could not be ascertained.
