BREAKING: ECOWAS Court gives FG 30 days to respond to Patrick Eholor’s Summons Miss Jumoke killing in Lagos

The Court of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS Court), sitting in Abuja has given the Nigeria Federal Government 30 days to respond to a suit filed by Chief Patrick Eholor seeking reparation for late Miss Jumoke, who was killed during a protest in Lagos.

Eholor filed a suit seeking redress in hundreds of millions dollars for the deceased parents of Miss Jumoke, who was killed during the Yoruba Nation rally that took place around Ojota axis of Lagos State in July 2021.

Eholor, who is the president of One Love Foundation, is also challenging the clampdown of peaceful protesters across Nigeria by the Nigerian government agencies, and wants the ECOWAS Court to determine in finality, whether the rights of Nigerians and peacefull protesters can be derogated and tampered with by the Nigeria Police ,security agencies and government.

Reacting to the development, the Global President of One Love Foundation,Chief Eholor described the suit as a watershed and is simply meant to determine in finality and for once, whether the incessant clamp down on peaceful protesters by Nigerian security agencies and state is not unconstitutional and illegal.

He also reiterated that justice will be done by the ECOWAS Court in the case.
