BREAKING: Gov Obaseki responds to Patrick Eholor’s request, relocates, reopens Benin High Court (SEE LETTER)

The Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki has relocated the Federal High Court, Benin Division. In a letter, the Governor revealed that due to the flood ravaging the court premises, he has moved the court to the facilities of the Appeal Court, opposite the Federal Prisons.

The action took place today, probably in response to the letter of Patrick Eholor, who appealed to the Governor to move the court in order to let the people get justice.

Recall that Eholor wrote to the Governor on Wednesday, asking for the court to be moved to a safer location and be opened to public use.

In his appreciation to Obaseki, Eholor, who is also the Chairman of One Love said “Let me use this platform to appreciate the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Acha and the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court for the restoration of the Federal High Court Benin which has been closed down since March 1st 2023.

Like I said in my letter of appeal to the Edo State Government few days ago, the Federal High Court is a special court which is affecting a lot of lives and properties, Edo cannot afford to lose the presence of the court due to flooding problems.

I also appreciate lawyers especially my friend Barrister Pius Oiwoh, former Chairman of the Lion Bar whose letter of appeal I read with interest and passion. Barr. Ogbankwa also spoke on it. I believe with this development, the Police, EFCC, NDLEA and other security agencies will no longer be carrying suspects to Warri and Asaba.” he said.
