BREAKING: How DSS arrested Emefiele at his Lagos home at 2am, flown to Abuja on Private Jet — Sowore

Contrary to the denial by the Department of State Service (DSS), the Nigerian secret police knows the whereabouts of suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele.

This is according to radical politician and activist Omoyele Sowore, who in a tweet from his official handle @YeleSowore2023 gave an account of how the embattled CBN boss was allegedly arrested in Lagos and whisked away to Abuja.

Sowore, Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the February 25, 2023 election, tweeted at exactly 12:07 PM today, Saturday, June 10, 2023:

“@GodwinIEmefiele has finally landed in Abuja after he was arrested at his Lagos home at 2am in the morning/ He was flown on a PJ from Lagos accompanied by a team of DSS men. Emefiele was tracked after he drove around Lagos purportedly in an attempt to flee Nigeria.”

His tweet came on the heels of claims by DSS that Emefiele is not in their custody.

Emefiele became the first victim of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who exactly on his 12th day in office, suspended him “with immediate effect”.

News soon broke that Emefiele had become a guest of the DSS.

Announcing Emefiele’s suspension on Friday evening, June 9, 2023, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, said the CBN Governor was undergoing investigation. He also cited the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy as another reason for Emefiele’s suspension.

A statement signed on behalf of the SGF by the Director, Information, Willie Bassey, reads: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, CFR, from office with immediate effect.

“This is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

“Mr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of investigation and the reforms.”
