Capt Evarest Nnaji (Odengene) hosts Labour Party, unveils Charity Begins At Home Campaign Movement for Obi-Datti in Enugu State

The likely Candidate of Labour Party in Enugu State for Governorship 2023, Chief Capt. Evarest Nnaji (Odengene), earlier today hosted notable national officers of the Labour Party in Enugu State.

The event, which was held at Kobbs Event Centre marked the unveiling of ‘Charity Begins At Home’, a platform of Nnaji’s campaign project for Mr Peter Obi in the coming elections.

According to Hon Sylvester Nweke, one of the foremost officials of Odengene Peoples Movement (OPM), the event was meant to officially unveil the Obi/Datti Labour Party support in Enugu State.

Reports reaching Jungle-Journalist.Com however indicated that supporters of Dr Chijioke Edeoga, who had been touted as the flagbearer of Labour Party in Enugu attempted to disrupt the event, upon learning that Odengene was the one behind the event.

Feelers has it that Odengene would eventually be declared the guber flagbearer for the party in the state, later in September, a development Edeoga’s supporters believed they would be able to stop.

An observer who witnesesd the event, said a handful of Edeoga’s supporters, led by one Shepherdman Iyioku attempted disrupting the program but they were promptly walked out of the hall and normalcy returned.

In his own words, Nweke said “After displaying their unruly shoutings, they walked out of the hall and thousands of other supporters that the hall couldn’t contain rushed in to fill their seats.

“Their inconsequential absence was not noticed and the program continued smoothly thereafter.
Suffice it to say that there was no fight, rather, unruly insignificant number of Edeoga loyalists spearheaded by one Shepherdman Iyioku disgraced themselves and by extension, their Principal.”

Also voicing his disappointment over the development, the Convener of 40 Million Ballot Revolution, Comrade Kennedy Iyere described the action as “inglorious and showed the desperation of their sponsor, Edeoga”.

He went on to say that if Edeoga could descend such low and attempted to disrupt a support programme for Peter Obi organized by a prominent son of Enugu, with no regard and respect to the National Executive in attendance, he (Edeoga) is not worthy to be elected even a Councillor.

Some national leaders of Labour Party who graced the event include National Vice Chairman (Representing TUC), Mrs. Ladi Illiya, National Vice Chairman (Representing NLC), Barr. Akinbade Oyelekan, National Legal Adviser, Dr. Tanko Yanusa, designated Chief Spokesperson to Obi-Datti Campaign Organisation, Barrister Beatrice Itubo, Rivers State NLC Chairperson who’s also LP 2023 Rivers State Governorship Candidate and Comrade Kenneth Robinson, National Publicity Secretary of PANDEF and Spokesperson for the Southern & Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF).

Earlier in the day, supoorters of Mr Peter Obi, his running mate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, and Labour Party in Enugu State had toured the streets of Enugu in an awareness walk, ending up at the event center.
