Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State, shared his thoughts following his meeting with well-known Nigerian artist Augustine Kelechi Okechukwu, better known by his stage name Tekno, at his Abakaliki office. One of the most well-liked musicians in the nation, Tekno, received praise and attention when he paid the governor a visit on Friday.
Governor Nwifuru acknowledged the entertainment industry’s explosive expansion both inside and outside of Nigeria, and he shared his thoughts on its significance on his verified Facebook page.
He emphasized the industry’s twin function as a source of leisure and amusement as well as a major driver of the national economy. The governor reaffirmed the government’s dedication to creating an atmosphere that will allow Ebonyi State’s entertainment sector to flourish.
While emphasizing the economic potential of the entertainment sector, Governor Nwifuru welcomed Tekno to his office, referring to him as a proud export from Ebonyi State. In his Facebook post, the governor expressed pride in Tekno’s achievements and influence in the entertainment industry, recognizing him as a valuable asset returning to his roots.
Governor Nwifuru highlighted the special nature of Tekno’s visit, noting that it marked the artist’s first return to his home state, Ebonyi. He encouraged Tekno to make frequent visits and contribute to the development of young talents in the music and entertainment sector within the state. The governor assured that the government would continue to support and champion the success of its homegrown talents.
He said, “The entertainment industry has continued to grow rapidly in and beyond our Nation. While it is a good source of fun and relaxation, it offers great economic additives to our society. As Government, we are open to provide enabling environment for this great industry to thrive in Ebonyi State. That is why today, I am most delighted to welcome to my office, our son and a proud export in the entertainment industry – Miles Augustine Kelechi Okechukwu, fondly known as Tekno, a singer, songwriter and producer. We are proud to have him back home in Ebonyi.
Interestingly, this is the first time he is visiting his State, Ebonyi. I encouraged him to come home often and help develop our young ones who have the requisite skill and talent in the music and entertainment industry. We will always support our own to be the best. – #FON”.
