
The member representing Ohaozara/Onicha and Federal Constituency, Hon Kama Nkemkanma said he has facilitated the employment of 21 unemployed graduates from his constituency into Federal Government’s Civil and public service.
Kama, a first timer in the green chamber on the platform of the Labour Party, who disclosed this at the weekend in Uburu, Ohaozara LGA, while briefing his constituents on the journey so far, added that he had 9 Legislative Aides in the National Assembly.
“In the course of these few months, we took steps toward delivering on our promises and we could say we’re not there yet, but honest efforts are being made and I’m here as your Chief Servant to give you the Stewardship report of the few things we’ve collectively achieved”, Kama noted.
He stated that he had sponsored 6 bills, moved 11 motion, and raised two important Orders in the floor of the House.
On health, he noted that he embarked on a free medical outreach that benefitted over 16,000 constituents in December 2023 across 11 communities within the Constituency.
“As a way of quick intervention, we’ve sponsored the medical treatments including surgeries of many constituents in various health facilities and have helped in clearing Hospital Bills of many, amounting to over Fifty-Eight Million, Six hundred and Fifty-five Thousand Naira (N58,655,000).
“We are glad to report that we’ve successfully secured funding in the 2024 Appropriation, for the reconstruction of 3 Nos Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in our constituency. Work has started in Ukawu PHC and soon work will commence on the other two selected Centres.
On Infrastructure, the Lawmaker said he constructed a mini-bridge in Amanator, Onicha Igboeze Community, Onicha Local Government Area and ongoing supply and installation of 50 Nos Solar Street Light in each of the 34 Wards in Ohanivo, totalling 1,700 solar Street lights.
“Ongoing construction of 1 No 6 Classrooms Block at Ummunnato Modern Technical Sec. Sch., Oshiri,
ongoing construction of 2.3Km Nkwo Ugwulangwu-Ohoffia–Onuinyima Road in Ugwulangwu Community and
construction of 1km road at Obeugwu, Amaeze.”
“Construction of 12 Hand-pump Boreholes in the 11 communities of the constituency; Okposi, Ugwulangwu,Uburu,Ishiagu, Akaeze, Ishinkwo, Ukawu, Onicha-Igboeze, Isu, Oshiri, and Abaomege communities.
“Ongoing construction of 13 Nos solar-powered Boreholes across the 10 communities of Ohanivo of which construction is completed in Ugwulangwu, Ukawu, Oshiri and Abaomege.
“Ongoing supply and installation of 300KVA Transformers to Oshiri, Ishiagu and Ugwulangwu communities. To be fully executed soon.
“Construction of 12 Hand-pump Boreholes in the 11 communities of the constituency; Okposi, Ugwulangwu,Uburu,Ishiagu, Akaeze, Ishinkwo, Ukawu, Onicha-Igboeze, Isu, Oshiri, and Abaomege communities.
“Ongoing drilling of 13 Nos Solar-Powered Boreholes across the 10 communities of Ohanivo of which work is completed in Ugwulangwu, Ukawu, Oshiri and Abaomege communities.
“Ongoing supply and Installation of 300KVA Transformers to Oshiri, Ishiagu and Ugwulangwu communities. To be fully executed soon”, Kama stated.
On poverty alleviation and empowerment, the Lawmaker said he distributed largesse worth over one hundred sixty million naira to his constituents, supported 2,010 indigent women across the Communities with ten thousand naira each, training and empowerment of of 400 with Afro inputs in collaboration with National Agricultural Land Development Agency (NALDA).
Other interventions according to him, are: “award of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) to 44 OHANIVO Law School Students of 2023/2024 Academic Session, Cash Award of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000), Hosting and Gifting of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000) Cash Support to Twenty-four OHANIVO 2024 Law School Graduates, Supported in off-setting the fees to some Law School Students in Ohanivo, Supported in off-setting the school fees of over 100 Students (Both Primary, Secondary, University and Postgraduate) to the tune of over Eighty-two Million Naira (N82,000,000).
“Production of Twelve Thousand (12,000) Exercise books of 60 and 80 leaves for onward distribution to Primary and Post-Primary Schools across OHANIVO.
“As a way of keeping our Children fruitfully engaged during the Holiday Break, we organized a Holiday Lesson between July 30th to August 30th, 2024, for Secondary School Students with Centres across the Communities in Ohanivo. 253 Teachers were dutifully engaged for this project and a total beneficiary of about 2,500 Students recorded. During the Grand Finale, Students who distinguished themselves were given Scholarships, while Teachers who distinguished themselves in their Jobs were rewarded financially.
“Ongoing Scholarships to 120 Undergraduates drawn across the 10 communities.
“We have under our payroll (N50,000 Monthly), 76 Aides who man our Constituency Offices in the 10 Communities of Ohanivo. This established that we have well furnished Offices in the 10 Communities as a way of keeping closer to the grassroot”, he concluded.
Stakeholders who spoke at the event including the Secretary to Ebonyi State government, Professor Grace Umezurike; former House of Reps member, Darlington Okorie; Traditional Ruler of Uburu Adu Kingdom, Eze Lazarus Umahi; Executive Chairman of Onicha LGA, Ikechukwu Ogbuoffia; Commissioner for ICT, Hon Machiavelli Uzor; and President’s of Town Unions, commended the Hon Kama for what they described as impactful representation.
