Edo 2024: Obaseki showers encomiuns on Shaibu, says Deputy Gov brought vigour, transformation to his Govt

Despite the obvious political differences  between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Philip Shaibu, the governor yesterday showered praises on his deputy and noted that he brought vigour and energy to his administration and transformational change.

Shaibu had on Monday in a well television event declared to contest the 2024 governorship and vowed to defeat Obaseki’s preferred choice, Asue Ighodalo at the party’s primary in February 2024.

Obaseki had Thursday told newsmen in a viral report  that his deputy is however free to contest the 2024 governorship asserting that it is his constitutional right to do so.

The governor in a congratulatory message to mark Shaibu’s 54th birthday described him as his brother.

He said, “I congratulate my brother, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon Philip Shaibu on his 54th birthday. I thank him immensely for his support in the course of our drive for the development of our State in the last seven years.

“I also acknowledge the energy and vigour he has brought to bear as this administration embarked on the onerous task of bringing transformational change and development to Edo State.
