Edo PDP ticket: NWC ambush Asue Ighodalo, as Obaseki moves to hijack Labour Party ticket

 

All is not well in the camp of Obaseki’s PDP faction as moves to impose his annointed godson “Asue Ighodalo” on the PDP have suffered major setbacks.

 

Obaseki whose hope was to take over the PDP structure on the expiration of the tenure of the former ward executives of the party in Edo State got the shock of his life when the National Working Committee of the party approved the elongation of the tenure former ward executives in the state till February 28th 2024.

 

According to a press release from the office of the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has, pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) approved the composition of the Edo State Ward Caretaker Committees to function for a period of 30 days effective today, February 1, 2024.

 

The decision of the NWC he explained is predicated on the expiration of the tenure of the Edo State Ward Executive Committees.

 

Consequently, the NWC has approved the appointment of the out-going Edo State Ward Executive Committees to function as Ward Caretaker Committees for a period of 30 days so as to avoid any vacuum in this very important organ of the Party in Edo State.

 

In addition to the above, the PDP NWC have also included in its guidelines for the conduct of the Edo PDP primaries, a clause to ban all appointees from participating as delegates in the primaries.

 

This new development has thrown the governor’s camp in disarray as the governor is said to be at crossroads as to how to cross the hurdle and accomplish his notorious ambition of imposing Asue Ighodalo on the party.

 

Obaseki however determined to ensure Asue gets the ticket of any of the major political party is said to started negotiations with major stakeholders of the Labour Party at the National level to hijack their ticket at all costs.
