Ekwueme Support Group Commiserates With Uzo Uwani State Constituency Lawmaker Over Mum’s Demise

The Ekwueme Support group visited it’s chairman, Hon Martin Chukwuma Ekwueme, the Minority Whip Enugu State House of Assembly to commiserate with him over the death of his mother, Mrs Esther Ekwueme, who died recently.

 

Led by its Director General, Comrade Rita Eberechukwu Anigbogu, the organisation met at the Enugu residence of the lawmaker where they poured encomium on his late mother.

 

Speaking at the meeting, the Group’s Patron, Hon John Offor said that a selected few representative had come, all the members had desired to come for the commiseration, due to the good nature of the chairman. He asked members of the family to take heart and bear the sad incident, knowing that death is an inevitability for all humans.

 

Also speaking, hon. Vitalis Okonkwo. ‘Oil Money’, stated that the death will mark a new beginning in the lives of the children of late Hon. Igbonekwu Ekwueme. He also prayed that no other family member will die young, as Mrs Ekwueme died at the youthful age of 64 years before her demise.

 

In his own words, the leader of the house, Uzo Uwani legislative council who is the councillor of Nkpologu ward Hon Philip Okoro promised that himself and his fellow councillors from Uzo Uwani Local Government will stand with the family before, during and even after the burial.

 

The DG, Anigbogu commended the lawmaker who she said has provided bursary for 160 pupils in the 16 wards of Uzo Uwani local government in the short time he has been in the Assembly

She said “The death of your mother,

who is also our sister is a death that affects all of us too. It has pleased God to call her, just as He will call us all one day. Death is inevitable, and does not give warning when it will come, and anybody, any one of us can go at any time, she stated.

 

In his response, Hon Martin Ekwueme said he is happy following the visit of the group. He said that the group is unique due to the way it handles it’s affairs.

 

Narrating the sad occurrences that led to her illness and eventual death, Hon Ekwueme said he is very close to his mum, and so it wasn’t easy for him to bear the loss “We tried everything humanly possible to save her, but God knows the best. Although my father was into politics, it was my mother that took me around to introduce me to different top politicians for me to learn the ropes”.

 

Other members of the organisation, including Hon. Princess Nneka Okoro who is also the PDP National ex – officio also spoke at the event, which culminated in the signing of the Condolence Register by the members.
