ENUGU: Comm For Lands Inaugurates Committee On Illegal Structures, Open Spaces, Unmonetized Properties/Houses 

Hon Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Prince Lawrence Ozoemena Ezeh

The Hon. Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development Enugu, Engr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh inaugurate’s eleven Man Committee on Enumeration of Illegal Structures and Unmonitized properties belonging to Enugu State Government. 

 

Inaugurating the committee, Engr. Prince Ezeh outlined the terms of reference to the committee as follows :

 

1.To expedite action on revenue generation

 

2.To design and implement effective and efficient strategies for the exercise

 

3.To ascertain all illegal structures and constructions

 

4.To ascertain all open spaces within the Ministry’s jurisdiction

 

5. To ascertain all Unmonetized properties

 

6. To follow due processes, including pasting demand notices

 

The Committee Members includes the following :

 

Hon. Livinus Okolo —Chairman

 

High Chief Simon Aniobi —Secretary.

 

Other members include Hon. Christian Njeke, Okeke Michael,

Chief I.O.C Mbah, Emeka Paul Nwodo, Jeff Okute, Kingsley Ani, Oge Ani, Joshua Udeh and Hon. Chris Onyema.

 

Hon.Engr. Prince Ezeh, charged the committee to holistically identify those illegal structures and unmonetized properties belonging to the State. He went further to task the committee to identify those who did not pay for property allocated to them and hinted that those who made part payment may have to forfeit the property.

 

He added that only those who have completed payment will be allowed to possess their property.

 

The Committee is expected to come up with daily/weekly report

 

 

The Honourable Commissioner also warned members of the Committee to keep all information strictly confidential.

 

Engr. Prince Ezeh further urged the committee members to be civil in the discharge of their duty, even as he informed the committee members that demand notice will be issued to defaulters.

 

Further speaking, Ezeh revealed that duration of the assignment given to the Committee will be from 20th Sept. to 17th October 2023. He expressed confidence that members of the Committee are capable to handle the job within the time frame.

 

In his response, Chairman of the committee Rt. Hon. Livinus Okolo on behalf of the committee thanked Hon. Engr. Prince Ezeh for finding them worthy to serve as members. He pledged that they will discharge their obligations as contained in the terms of reference.
