Enugu Communities pledge to  support APGA, hosts Frank Nweke Jr

In a show of allegiance to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Aku Community of Igbo-Etiti South came out en masse to support their son Ifunanya Attah, the House of Assembly candidate for Igbo-Etiti West Constituency in receiving the gubernatorial candidate, Frank Nweke Jr and his deputy, Dr Edith Ugwuanyi on Thursday.

Hailing the community for their unwavering loyalty, Hon Chidi Ifunanya Attah said that the goal of APGA candidates in the State was to work aggressively towards improving the standard of life for the people. Sharing some of his human development efforts in the community, he assured everyone of his commitment to ensuring optimal representation of their needs at the State House of Assembly if elected.

“Today, I can count 230 people that I have helped to secure jobs. I currently have 11 undergraduates under my scholarship and I have 57 students in this community who have been able to procure their JAMB forms with my help. These were done as a private citizen because I have your interest at heart. You can expect more once I am elected your representative in the State House” he said.

Going further, the House of Assembly candidate revealed that he had discussed the issues of non-payment of teachers and pensioners with the APGA governorship candidate, who had given his word to make their welfare a priority for urgent attention once sworn in as the Governor. He assured them that the same thing applied to ensuring regular power supply and the rehabilitation of their roads. He reaffirmed his confidence in Nweke and asked the people to trust him with their votes.

In his remarks, Nweke praised Attah for his attention to the needs of the people and his genuine desire to improve their lives. Noting that the turnout of the people was a testament to their love for him, he urged the community to vote for good leaders like them who would put their interests ahead of pecuniary interests.

“What Ifunanya has started in the communities he serves will become the norm once we get into office. Our desire is to ensure your security, good water and power supply, and good road infrastructure and to provide you with jobs and opportunities to improve your economic power. These are some of the things APGA will do in Enugu State” he said.

To demonstrate their acceptance of the gubernatorial candidate, Nweke was presented with a handcrafted wooden chair created by a young local sculptor, Obinna Odenigbo.

Other candidates present at the event were the House of Assembly candidates for Nsukka West – Hon. Uche Ugwanyi and for Udenu – Hon. Chijioke Ezegwu, House of Representatives candidates for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South – Hon Ngozi Ugwu and for Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani – Hon Paul Ezea, and also the Senatorial candidate for Enugu North, Sir Casmir Ugwu.
