ENUGU: Fulani herdsmen kill 10, injure many, destroy property farms, threaten to extend carnage to neighbouring communities

No less than 10 persons have been reportedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen who attacked Agu-Amede community located in Eha-Amufi of Isi-Uzo LGA of Enugu State on Monday. It was also gathered that the attack lead to various degrees of injuries sustained by some members of the community..

Among those who were killed were two daughters of a church cleric in the community.

While speaking on the attack, Augustine Odoh who is a community leader said the suspected herdsmen attacked them two times within the space of two days.

According to him, the suspected Fulani militias attacked them on Saturday and killed two persons. He said while they were trying to get over the two that were killed, the herdsmen attack again and this time around, they killed 8 persons.

He said in addition to that, another 25 persons were seriously injured and that they have taken them to various hospitals.

He revealed that they have sent for all the members of the community who were living outside to come so that they can plan the way forward.

While lamenting how no security persons came to their rescue all through the time of the attack, Odo said, “Our people cannot confront them with bare hands. They come in their numbers with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons, shooting and destroying houses for hours unchallenged.”.

As at the time of filing this report, several people in the community were seen carrying bags and other property, fleeing out of fear.

When our correspondent spoke with some of them, they said the herdsmen threatened to kill everyone in the community, and also threatened to move into the neighbouring communities to perpetrate more mayhem.
