ENUGU: Nkerefi’s Nkanu East wearing a new look as council boss promises more infrastructure

The ongoing reconstruction of feeder roads in Nkerefi town, made up of four autonomous communities and two political wards, has come as a huge relief for the people of the communities as life is seamlessly falling in place in anticipation of the Christmas and new year celebrations which are weeks away.

With night life building up in the town enabled by the street lights from the government, led by Hon. Okechukwu Sydney Edeh, local government chairman of the area, and Hon. Pharmacist Nnolim Nnaji, member representing Nkanu East/West Federal Constituency, and individual philanthropists, the people of Nkerefi are set to celebrate this year’s yuletide in grand style.

All thanks to the local government chairman for fulfilling his electoral promises. There are heavy duty caterpillars and graders working across the communities, levelling the hitherto intractable and inaccessible roads even down to farmlands. Nobody could have done it better than the PDP-led government.

People can now travel home with their vehicles for celebration without fear of bad road. This is a Christmas gift the people are already appreciating, and expressing their readiness to reciprocate the gesture at the polls. Massive support and massive voting for the PDP.

A drive through Ishienu Amofu, Ohuani Amofu, Enuogu and Imeoha autonomous communities in Nkerefi will convince one that there’s a new dawn in Nkerefi land. This is a special season of good governance.

The implications of the reconstruction of these access roads are enormous to the people of the border town. There’s an economic impact that the service roads will spur. Farmers can now move their farm produce to markets at a low cost unlike when the road was less motorable.

More traders and buyers will now be willing to come down to Nkerefi to purchase goods at ease. This means more income and revenue.

Another is the social benefit aspect of the service roads. Nkerefi town receives hundreds or thousands of people monthly for ceremonies. With the good roads, more people will be willing to put their cars on the roads. Definitely, having this huge population visiting will also mean they will buy food, drinks, and have themselves entertained in the serene environment. The beautiful vegetation. The soulful running of Evuna stream. The fresh tilapia and cat fish. The delicacy of the bush meat. The fresh tasty palm wine. What more could make life more beautiful!

What the local government chairman is doing is in line with Dr. Peter Mbah’s (PDP governorship candidate) integrated rural development programmes where economic clusters and zones will be created to generate more employments for the youths. This will require building roads across all the communities.

While work is ongoing in Nkerefi, other communities in Nkanu East are also being given a new lease of life by the chairman through his robust infrastructure and social services in those areas.

It’s indeed, not surprising to see voters in Nkanu East glamouring for the re-elections of PDP candidates, and the elections of the governorship candidate of the party.

This is leadership by example epitomized by what Hon. Okechukwu Edeh is doing. He has always come to the people’s rescue in times of needs, and as it’s said, the reward for good work is more work.

Next on the list to be witnessed is rural electrification and replacements of vandalized supplier. The chairman has vowed to prioritize the state of infrastructure in the area and continue to give the people reasons to celebrate.
