Enugu2023: We will work closely with the Church as partners in development – Frank Nweke Jr

Frank Nweke Jr, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Enugu State, on Friday, stated that his administration will work closely with the church in its plans for social and values reorientation.

He made the statement at the Town Hall Meeting organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria for all Gubernatorial Candidates in the State.

Responding to a question from Bishop Ernest Obodo, the APGA flag bearer highlighted the key role the church plays in shaping culture and societal values, and the need to deploy the convening powers of the government and the pulpit in a concerted manner.

“The government and the Church both serve the people. Our religious institutions play the role of the moral compass of society and a beacon of hope to many. It is important that we both work together to create the future we dream of for our State.

“Under my administration, the Church will be a critical stakeholder in our planning and policy formulations in the areas of values reorientation, social welfare, education and promoting civic responsibility.”

Nweke also praised the growing participation of the church in the political process, highlighting the need for the leaders of the church to encourage their members to get involved in the process and also hold leaders accountable to the promises they make during the election campaigns.
