Factional Labour Party candidate, Jude Ezenwafor drops ambition, meets Peter Obi

Ezenwafor and Obi

A presidential candidate of Labour Party who was declared winner of the primaries by his faction, Chief Jude Ezenwafor has dropped his presidential ambition.

In a letter made available to Jungle Journalist Media Limited, Ezenwafor said he made wife consultations and decided to drop his ambition.

He had also reportedly met Mr Peter Obi, who was declared the presidential candidate of the party by the Julius Abure – led Labour Party.

Ezenwafor was declared the presidential candidate of a faction of the labour party.

Ezenwafor has however dropped his ambition following statements by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), ordering him to step down for Peter Obi.

The letter of his withdrawal read in parts, “I hereby withdraw from the forthcoming Presidential Election in 2023. After consulting my supporters nationwide, I decided to withdraw for personal reasons.

“I regret any inconvenience my withdrawal might cost our great Party. I thank the leadership of our great Party for giving me the opportunity to serve Nigeria”.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as well as the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, had also earlier dismissed Ezenwafor and his faction.

With the latest development, the coast is now clear for Mr Obi, who is a former govenor of Anambra State to contest without hitches for the presidency.
