The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu state is close to be announced winner of the 2023 Gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The above assertion was due to the results announced so far at the INEC Center for 2023 Collation and Declaration of Governorship election results.
Whereas some of the results especially Nkanu East and Nsukka were set aside, below are tentative total votes scored by the key political parties:
PDP – 174,289
LP – 157,543
APGA – 18,054
APC – 14,808
Meanwhile, two local government results have been set aside, Nsukka and Nkanu East, following protests from the PDP and LP on allegations of massive rigging.
In Nsukka, while PDP scored 10,886 votes, LP got a whopping 30,294.
On the other hand, Nkanu East votes showed that LP garnered 1,855 the PDP got 30,350 votes.
Whether the two local government area are added or not, PDP stands a chance of retaining power in Enugu State, with Dr Peter Mbah as its new governor.
