The Patani Field Office of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service has been sacked by flood as a result of the steady rise of flood water in Patani, the administrative headquarter of Patani local government area of the state.
Jungle-Journalist.Com gathered that the entire premises was submerged by flood, making it impossible for staff and tax payers to access the building.
A staff of the Patani revenue office who spoke under the condition of anonymity, lamented that the heavy rains which started sometime last week had increased to the point that the entire compound and its surroundings had become flooded.
He appealed to the state government to find what he called “a permanent solution”, by temporarily relocating the office to higher ground.
He noted that the situation had become a recurring one, as he said similar flooding last year disrupted revenue generation activities for nearly two months last year.
Meanwhile Ewulu Community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state, has again suffered severe flooding.
Comrade Osisi Ugochukwu Awele, the organizing secretary of National Youths Council of Nigeria, Aniocha South chapter, who spoke to newsmen at Ewulu, said the flood became very severe two weeks ago.
Comrade Osisi said the people of the area have lost their farms, fish ponds and homes to the flood.
While saying that the people are facing hardship, ranging from hunger accommodation, she appealed to the State, Local Government, philanthropists and good spirited individuals to come to the aid of the Community to enable the people to have food to eat.
