Glory Okolie: It amazes me that no Igbo has tried to assist, or even commend those assisting her – Activist

Chief Patrick Eholor, the human rights activist whose foundation is fighting for the liberation and justice of Miss Glory Okolie, an Igbo girl accused of terrorism, has expressed disappointment about Igbos.

Eholor, who has been in the forefront, alongside Barrister Samuel Ihensekhien Jnr, said he is worried that even though both of them are non Igbos, they undertook to defend Okolie, but were shocked that no Igbo, apart from her family has showed any form of support or even commendation.

His words “I am here to talk about the Igbo people. I traveled to Ghana (the ECOWAS Court of Justice) about nine days ago because I was fighting for a little girl called Gloria Okolie, an Igbo girl who was arrested and could not get justice in Nigeria.

“So far, no Igbo man or woman has come up to commend Barrister Ihensekhien Jnr, or my humble self, Chief Patrick Eholor otherwise known as Ultimate Equals. Both of us are not Igbo, but we are carrying this girl, ensuring that her rights are not violated, and she is freed. Its a shame to Igbos that all they are after is money. You don’t know anything about politics, its shame.

“Nobody had ever come out to even ask why she is being incarcerated. When I asked the girl what she wants to be, she said she wants to become a nurse. I cried because she has got potential, and they want to destroy that.

“The Igbo man is not concerned about politics, and that’s why the Fulani has continued to rule, and control your money, your investments, and crash you if they want to.

“The Igbo man wants to run his business and outshine the other man, wants to show that he has arrived, wants to go and take a chieftaincy title, and throw money about like Obi Cubana. In all these, where is Obi Cubana whom you call a philanthropist when this little girl is being violated by the police? Where are the likes of Okorocha, Arthur Eze, and so on when Ultimate Equals is fighting to get her released?

“That girl was accused of terrorism, that little girl, that girl is one of the futures of the Igbo race, but all the Odogwus, all the Igwes, all the chiefs were busy throwing their money about to show off, while their little sister is being violated by police officers. You should be ashamed of yourselves and your selfcentredness.

I am not asking you to give me anything, but if the Igbo were united, nobody will cause violence on Igbo streets and everybody is silent. With unity, those causing unrest in Enugu, Onitsha, Orlu, Abakaliki will be brought to book in no time.

With unity, Igbo land will be like Silicon Valley. With unity an Igbo man will become president, and Igbos will have a better say in this country, and people will use visas to visit that land.

But nothing can be achieved without unity. United we are strong, divided we are weak. You people must bring all your arsenals together and stop others from controlling you.

That is why Fulani is controlling everyone, no matter how educated or rich.

There are a lot of policemen and women of top ranks who didn’t raise a finger to assist Glory Okolie, even though they could do it.

Igbo governors, Igbo chiefs and qKings, Igbo leaders, Igbo billionaires, yiu have just about 80 or 90 years on earth. You will not carry your wealth or connection to the grave. Why don’t you use it to strengthen your community, strengthen the people around you and let that be the legacy you are leaving on earth?

“That’s how America, Japan, China, and other nations have grown. I love the Igbo spirit of enterprise, but if they don’t use it to build Igbo land, its useless.

“I am not trying to divide anybody and I am not a racist, but the quota system has not helped us. Every institution in Nigeria is controlled by the Fulanis. Not even the Hausas, Hausas are dragged into this but they are also marginalised by the Fulani.

“Those who are in power, those who know how Boko Haram works, and cannot fight them, we know them, but they are cowards, because cowards die many times before their actual death, and so cannot say it as it is.

“I don’t want to be politically correct, I say it as it is, that the Igbo people would have been able to do more for themselves and the Biafra struggle they are into if they are more united. There is nothing wrong about agitation if you do it well.

“We should unite and fight all these anomalies. Today, we cannot travel by air, land, sea or even trains, Boko Haram terrorists here and there. No one is safe. If I speak like this, I speak with anger because Buhari promised so much, but he has delivered little or nothing. We can do something and have quality and competent leadership.
