Governor Ugwuanyi visits survivors at hospital, as tanker kill 6 in Enugu

A fatal accident that occurred at the popular Nza Street, Independence Layout Enugu on Thursday night has claimed 6 lives while many others sustained injuries.

Our correspondent gathered that the accident occurred as a result of a fully-loaded tanker that crashed into a Keke loading spot killing 6 people on the spot.

An eye witnessed account told our correspondent that the tanker failed to brake and crashed into the Keke loading spot.

“The accident occurred around 7 pm when the tanker driver failed to brake and killed 6 people while others were injured”.

He said an angry mob set the tanker ablaze but the driver of the tanker disappeared immediately the accident happened.

Meanwhile, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has visited the scene of the incident for needful intervention.

Governor Ugwuanyi, who was accompanied by his deputy, Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo thereafter proceeded to Posh Hospital, New Haven, Enugu, to empathize with the survivors and ensure that they receive adequate medical attention.

He, therefore, pledged to pay all medical bills of the accident victims and consequently made sufficient funds available with the hospital management to ensure the patients were properly treated without any hindrance.

He condoled with the families of victims who lost their lives in the accident and thanked those who rescued the survivors and brought them to the hospital for being Good Samaritans.
