The Eze Kanu Oji Under-19 Football Tournament successfully came to an end on December 24, 2025, with Group D emerging champions after an exciting final at the Aggrey Memorial School Field in Arochukwu.
Group D, made up of teams from Ujari, Ibom, Amasu, and Amannagwu, sealed their victory with a 2–1 win over Group C in the final match to lift the competition’s trophy.
As champions, Group D was awarded a ₦500,000 cash prize. The runners-up, Group C, received ₦350,000, while the third-placed team went home with ₦200,000. An additional ₦100,000 participation prize was presented to the remaining team in recognition of their involvement.
The tournament attracted high-profile personalities from the sports and community sectors. Among those in attendance were the Abia State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, and the Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club, Coach John Sam Obuh. The ceremonial kickoff was performed by the President-General of Nzuko Aro Worldwide, Mazi Nnadozie Udensi.
Speaking at the event, Mazi Chimereze Okeigbo, one of the organisers, described the competition as a strategic platform for identifying and nurturing young football talents within the Arochukwu area and beyond. He noted that the initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote youth development through sports.
Outstanding players were also recognised for their exceptional performances during the tournament. Uchenna Michael Okike received the award for Best Goalkeeper, Michael Chukwuma was named Best Player, while Nwafor Goodness emerged as the Highest Goal Scorer. The awards were presented by the Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club, alongside medals for other deserving players.
The final match attracted a large turnout of football enthusiasts, youths, and community members. The event was further graced by the Special Guest of Honour, Mazi Ike Okoronkwo, as well as other dignitaries who gathered to celebrate grassroots football and youth excellence.
