Hilda Mbah, 21st president of Rotary Club Ind’Lyout Enugu pledges to reposition club

The 21st President of Rotary Club of Enugu Independence Layout, Rotarian Hilda Ngozika Mbah has pledged to lean on the shoulders of past leaders of her club to guide the Club through programme expansion and club visibility by executing projects that align with Rotary International areas of focus.

She made the pledge during her investiture ceremony held at the Bon Platinum Hotel Independence Layout Enugu.

Rotarian Ngozika who is a broadcaster working at Enugu State Broadcasting Service highlighted some of the club planned projects for the year to include:

Orphaned girl child adoption; donation of textbooks and furniture to a school library; economic empowerment of young persons on the Auto Revamp skill acquisition, etc.

The president used the occasion to drive the campaign for the girl child, especially the orphaned girl child whom she said can reach the zenith of success if given the right push.

Rotary Club of Enugu Independence Layout, chartered in 2002 is a member of Rotary International a humanitarian service organization founded in 1905. The organization brings together business and professional leaders in order to provide community service, promote integrity, and advance goodwill, peace, and understanding in the world.

A club official, Rtn Nnaemeka Obiora who was interviewed pointed out that for this investiture, history repeated itself as a female in the person of Rtn Hilda Mbah becomes the president two decades after another female president Lady Franca Ojeh chartered the club.

During the event, Awards were conferred to deserving individuals who have made marks in various areas of life.

One of the awardees, Prince Lawrence Ezeh the Prince of Mburubu kingdom who was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award in deep recognition of his lifelong service to humanity through his individual endeavours as well as corporate involvement, becoming a gift that spans a lifetime said that he has vowed that he would always impact the society with the resources God has blessed him with. He also donated to the course of charity during the event.

The highlight of the event include university scholarship offer to an orphaned girl child, Precious Okoro a native of Amagunze in Nkanu East LGA of Enugu State by one of the awardees, Owelle Ejikeme Odumegwu.

Owelle also pledged to support other humanitarian projects of the club.

Another awardee, Rtn Amam Ben Ohuabunwa also extended university scholarship offer to an indigent student, Vivian Ijeoma Okeke who willingly stepped down for Miss Precious to get the initial scholarship. He as well, made a pledge to donate to the club to support the course of charity.

Other awardees include: Lady Franca Ojeh (the chartered president of the club); Engr (Dr.) Uchenwa Ujam (Chairman NSE, Enugu State); Hon. Chukwuemelie AGU (GM ESHDC); Rtn Chibuzo Asogwa (Odogwu) and Chukwudi Smart Ani (ESBS).

The investiture ceremony which also featured inauguration of Board of Directors and the induction of new members, attracted dignitaries including: Dr. GOC Ajah (fmr. SSG Enugu State); Rt. Hon. Dr. Chukwuemeka Ogbuabor and Hon. Chukwuma Ephraim Okenwa (Member 2, PPSMB).

Others include Dr. Pat Anakor (Director, Citadel Group of Schools); Mr. Godwin Ohochukwu, representing Iliya Yohanna (Airspace Manager, NAMA) and Men & Officers of NDLEA, Enugu State Command.
