A report on the social media, credited to human rights groups, Behind Bars Family and One Love Foundation has alleged that 21 year old Miss Glory Okolie who enrolled for 2021 JAMB examinations has been in police detention since 17th June, 2021 till date.
She left her house and never returned.
Since 17th June, her family and friends had searched for her in hospitals and mortuaries but could not find her.
Towards the end of June, 2021, a young man who was freed from the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) office, Tiger Base Owerri in Imo State told the Okolie family that he saw Glory in the custody of IRT officers.
He claimed that she was cooking and washing clothes for them.
According to the report, the family immediately went to IRT office and requested to see Glory and bail her out but till date, it has been one story or the another.
There are even rumours that she is married to one of the officers at the moment.
The IRT officers allegedly continued to extort the family and denied them access to see Glory.
According to Harrison Gwamnishu, the Director General of Behind Bars Family, “Our team launched investigation and discovered Glory has been transferred to Abuja and tagged IPOB/ESN member.”
A joint statement made by Behind Bars Family and One Love Foundation, (Human Rights Foundations), said they wanted the IGP Complaint Response Unit, Abuja and the new IRT, head DCP Tunji Disu to rescue Glory who has now become a maid in Nigeria Police custody.
