The traditional ruler of Imeoha Nkerefi Autonomous community, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, His Royal Highness Igwe Luke Ogbu Ogbuta Okorie, has awarded the sum of six million, two hundred thousand naira only to tertiary education students across the Nkerefi community.
Igwe Okorie, who made this known in a social media message, stated that the gesture is in celebration of his 62nd birthday. According to the monarch, committing the funds to the education of Nkerefi students was his preferred method of ensuring that families across the four Nkerefi communities benefit from him as he offers thanksgiving to God in his new age.
Hear him, “I have decided to continue from where I stopped to bring the needed changes and to mark my special 62nd birthday. I will award 62 scholarships to our indigenous people of Nkerefi Communities, and each student will receive #100,000 00 toward his or her education in the University. All four communities in Nkerefi are prospective beneficiaries”, he announced.
Giving further explanation on the modalities for receiving the funds, the Igwe listed resource persons who, according to him, will be responsible for ensuring that the funds get to the right persons across the four communities:
