INDEPENDENCE BIRTHDAY: Police Officer Donates 300 Uniforms, Sandals to School Children

The gifts during the birthday celebration

Birthdays for most people is a time to celebrate achievements while appreciating God for the gift of life. Many have abused this day with drinking to stupor while carrying out several illicit activities.

But for SP Usman Dimka, who was born on a day Nigeria got her independence, he believes his birthday should actually be a day where smiles are seen on the faces of school children of the Police Children School, Asaba, Delta State.

He therefore, decided to celebrate his 50th birthday with Police Children School Asaba while he puts smiles the faces of the children and their teachers.

The event which took place at the school field featured cutting of a birthday cake with the teachers and pupils of the school, distribution of 300 school uniforms, sandals, exercise books, pen, pencils, erasers, and textbooks.

Staff and pupils who spoke with Jungle Journalist Media Limited expressed gratitude to the celebrant for giving the children the real birthday celebration because according to one of them, some of the children have never featured in a birthday celebration but today, they’re part of it. He prayed for God’s blessings on the celebrant.

Speaking with our correspondent shortly after the induction ceremony, a guardian, Nwachukwu who was moved to tears, thanked SP Dimka and described him as an angel sent to help her nephew whom she said is an orphan.

On his part, SP Dimka stated that his motivation to embark on the gesture is due to the nature of the economy and his resolve to make impact, no matter how small on lives. He also appreciated friends, family and organizations who assisted him embark on the project.

The State Commissioner of Police and the Command high ranks were also in attendance.

SP Dimka is the Commander of the Special Tactical Team of the Delta State Police Command.
