Nigeria’s State Trade Union leader bags Africa Medal of Honour


The Chairman, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) Delta State Branch as well as the Chairman, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Delta State Council, Comrade Bolum Nwachukwu has bagged the Africa Medal Merit

The Medal of Honurs are annually presented by Time Africa Magazine, to individuals who have made public or private endeavors especially meritorious contributions to the interests of countries in Africa; to world peace, or to cultural or other significant endeavours.

The award was presented at the Nigeria National Merit Award House Abuja – Nigeria on November 1, 2021.


Presenting the award, Time AFRICA Magazine said, “as TUC Chairman we are proud to say he led the way in creating the worker-governmrnt-friendly workplace policies and practices that exist in Delta State.

The Magazine said it received some of the highest ratings by employers of labour and members of the public who provided anonymous feedback about nominees. The list was whittled down from several nominees and Comrade Bolum Martin Nwachukwu was chosen for the honor for his core values: grass root movement, which has now become stronger and push for workers welfare in government and private sector.

He has negotiated many successful settlements for his union at the State and National levels.

Also the Medal of Merit was honoured him on the basis of his inclination for humanitarian services, ostensibly fighting for the interest of the downtrodden and marginalized in the society.
