On Abia, Just So You Know, By John Okiyi Kalu

At the moment we are focused on ensuring a peaceful and orderly transition of power to the incoming administration.

Abia matters more than any other consideration.

As per those sponsoring or actively participating in the social media dragging of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, PhD, I can only urge you to stop now. It is true that victors write history but I am very sure that deep inside all of us we know that Dr Ikpeazu is simply the best ever to govern our dear state. He may have ended up carrying the real and perceived sins of others on his shoulders, like a good leader must always be prepared to do, fact still remains that he was not Governor of Abia State for 24 years.

Whatever Governor Ikpeazu didn’t get right or failed to fix, my personal prayer is that the incoming administration will get right, fix and also further improve on even those areas he did very well.

Let’s have an orderly transition and and as much as possible help the incoming administration settle down quickly to the task. We should expect that they will also get some things right and miss out on some, it is the nature of public sector leadership globally.

For those worrying about JOK, thanks a million for your concerns. I came with Kurutu to government and always planned to go with him. Nothing really changed for me. My only prayer is for God to give our successors wisdom, patience with our people and a discerning spirit.

I will now focus and only speak further on Abia, if necessary, after a peaceful and orderly hand over on May 29th 2023.
