OPINION: DR OKEZIE IKPEAZU- AN EMBODIMENT OF A CAT WITH NINE LIVES

Ikpeazu

Their position is that Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has done nothing in the seven years of his administration. However, When you try to point to them some of his modest achievements, they retort to abuses, and further ask you if you really have conscience. That’s how idiotic some opposition members in the state could be.

In the last three years or so, there has been a well coordinated and deliberate attacks by these disgruntled strange bedfellows against the Governor of the state.

Their primary aim was to discredit and demarket the governor, and render him politically impotent to participate in the process of who succeeds him, perpetually trying to play god, but have always been met with the hand of God.

Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu’s life history is filled with account of a man who walks through the shadow of the valley of death, but comes out unhurt, safe, clean and strong, as His life is however characterized and Immersed by grace.

Following his resolve to throw in his hat to the ring for the abia top job in 2014, it was obvious that most political observers and pundits did not give him any opportunity for victory.

Despite being keenly and fiercely contested, the Governor Against all odds maneuvered, beaten them black and blue at the polls and attributing his victory to the grace of God.

Dissatisfied with the results, the trio of Dr. Alex Otti, Dr. Uche Ogah and Barr. Uche Nwosu approached the various courts of the land, up to the Supreme in a marathon litigation to further advance the course of their distractive agenda. Again, Dr. Ikpeazu through same grace battered and shattered them black and blue, as the court revalidated the mandate Abians freely gave him at the polls.

Popular among those onslaughts was the one ruled by Justice Okon Abang of the federal high Court Abuja on the 26th of June 2017. The governor still scaled the hurdle, came out strong and attributed it to the grace of God.

All that aside, Abians woke up on the early morning of the 10th of June, 2020 with the bold headline that the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has been moved to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, for intensive care after testing positive for Corona virus.

It was yet another tumultuous moment for members of his family, the Executive council and the state at large, as the picture being painted in some quarters was that the Governor had passed on.

These detractors and enemies of the state became alive again, as they struggled in vain to take through the back door what they couldn’t get through the ballot.

Once again, like the proverbial cat with nine lives, Gov. Ikpeazu, against all odds, survived the situation and came out stronger, attributing his survival to the grace of God, and went further to forgive all his offenders–a sharp opposite of what today’s politicians are.

Of more instructive of God’s grace upon the life of the Governor was his election, and that of Prof Uche Ikonne’s last May as the PDP flag bearer for Abia south senatorial and Abia gubernatorial seats respectively for next year’s general elections.

Before their elections, these empty drums had threatened fire and brimstone, relying on their swords and spares for victory, while the Governor had relied on God’s grace for his.

Again, the rest are now history as the margin of defeat was never anticipated, hence for the umpteenth time attributed it to the grace of God.

With same grace, he will win similar battles lined up for him as we approach the general elections. Same grace will lead him to continue and complete all ongoing projects embarked upon by his administration, lead the people’s Democratic party in the state to a resounding victory, and successfully hand over power to Prof Uche Ikonne, hence same Lord that delivered him out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver him out of the hand of these uncircumcised Philistines?
