Governor Alex Otti has directed immediate payment of April salaries owed to public workers in Abia State by the previous administration of ex-Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu and June pensions to retirees.
According to reports, the payments are in fulfillment of Otti’s campaign promise not to owe pensioners and those in service and to clear all outstanding verified salary arrears.
The directive was given after a meeting of the Executive Council, including Deputy Governor Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, 16 newly sworn-in Commissioners, and the Accountant General.
