Peter Mbah, Nwifuru Sworn-in As Enugu, Ebonyi Governors 

As Ebonyi Gets First Female Deputy Governor 

 

Barr Peter Mbah has been sworn in as the Governor of Enugu State.

 

Mbah took his oath of office at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu at about 11:50 am on Monday.

 

The oath was administered by the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice A. Ozoemena.

 

His Deputy, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai took his oath of office a few minutes earlier.

 

The immediate past Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was at the event, alongside his Deputy, Barr Cecelia Ezeilo.

 

Some of the dignitaries at the event included former governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, former governor, Barr Sullivan Chime, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi, among others.

 

In a related development, Mr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has been sworn-in as the 4th Executive Governor of Ebonyi State.

 

Also, Mrs Patricia Onyemachi Obila has been sworn-in as the first woman deputy Governor of the State.

 

The Chief Judge of the State, Justice Elvis Ngene, administered oath of allegiance and office to them at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, Monday.

 

Nwifuru took the oath of office at about 1:22pm.

 

Before his election as a Governor, Nwifuru had served as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly for two tenures of eight years, between 2015 to 2023.

 

The immediate past Governor, David Umahi decorated Mr Nwifuru as the Great Grand Commander of Ebonyi Hall of Fame (GGCEHF) and his deputy, Mr Obila, as Grand fellow of Ebonyi Hall of Fame (GFEHF).
