Police, Army, Lawyers, Journalists should support June 12 national protests – Student Leader

Comrade Ogbeide

A student leader and proponent of the June 12 national protests, Comrade
Osamudiamen Elvis Ogbidi has appealed to students and youths alike to massively participate in tomorrow’s national protests planned to take place across the country.

Ogbidi, who is the National Spoeksman of Nigerian Students and Youth Association (NISAYA) in a voice message electronically sent to Jungle Journalist Media Ltd stated that it is sad that certain elements in students unionism have claimed that Nigerian students will not be part of the protests. He specifically mentioned the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) as claiming that they are not part of the protests.

The leader, who was also a student leader in the University of Benin, called on media organisations and practitioners, barristers and security agents to protect the protesters and refrain from harrasing the protesters.

“I want to appeal to police men to ensure that they support us and protect us. Most of the demands we are making are meant for their own benefits. They should realize this and be on the look out to block hoodlums from hijacking the protests. If the protest is hijacked, then the government has a hand in it”, he said.

“Everyone should come out and join this protests. All of must be involved”, he stated.
