Sacked service chiefs corrupt, incompetent, nepotistic, abused human rights;new chiefs must secure Nigeria – Activist Eholor

Ace human rights activist crusader and President of One Love Foundation, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor has played the appointment of new service chiefs in the country.

Eholor, who is also popularly known as Ultimate Equals, and the Democracy Observer-General of the Federal Republic expressed his position in a Press Brief he sent to our newsroom this morning.

While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing the new service chiefs, he accused the sacked security chief of being knee-deep into incompetence, corruption, nepotism, highhandedness and a history of human rights abuses.

He stated: “Let me start by saying that it became apparent early in the life of this regime that the set of Security Chiefs now sacked by Buhari had no zeal to fight and secure the nation. These men were purely businessmen in uniform who came to make money from insecurity rather than securing the nation.

“Under their tenure, insurgency, banditry and kidnapping spread like wild fire from the North East to the North West, North Central, South West, South South and South East zones of the country.

“The Service Chiefs were incompetent, clueless, corrupt and practiced nepotism and anti democratic in all their dealings.

“The rising spate of insecurity in the country can be attributed to the retention for far too long of the incompetent Service Chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“I think he allowed them for too long because they were doing his bidding by protecting his office and that of the cabals.

“They lost battle as the men in their various theatres became lame duck easily attacked by the insurgents as a result of insufficient armaments as a result of the corrupt men leading the armed forces.

“Therefore, it’s good riddance to bad rubbish. Nigerians won’t miss them. I urge the EFCC to investigate all their dirty deals and bring them to book.

“Furthermore, I think the new Service Chiefs which include Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff, are experienced enough judging by their profile. I believe that they would be able to turn the tide on insecurity in the country in no distant time.

“The new Service Chiefs should shun politics and use their new positions to work selflessly for the peace and security of the country.

“Lastly, the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari must continue to fund the military and their men by increasing their salaries and benefits to enable them compete favorably with their counterparts all over the world.

“You can’t send a hungry and angry man to secure you and be happy. There must be extra motivations to enable them discharge their duties effectively”, Eholor stated.
