Singer Portable Taken To Prison After Court Ruling

Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been taken to prison following his appearance in court on Monday.

Recall that the singer was arraigned at the magistrate court in Ifo, Ogun state for assault, theft, and unruly behaviour.

This follows his arrest on Friday after the expiration of the 72-hour ultimatum given to him by the police to turn himself in.

Portable’s ordeal with the police started last week after making an Instagram live video in which he claimed that police had attacked his bar in Sango Ota at the request of an online scammer.

The musician was invited to the Ogun State Police Command’s headquarters after the video, which has since gone viral and generated some internet controversy.

According to the Police, Portable chose to ignore the numerous invitation from them, claiming that the invitations were unwarranted because he makes his money “legitimately.”

The musician was apprehended by the police on Friday after the expiration of the 72-hour ultimatum given to him by the police to turn himself in.

After his appearance in court on Monday, he was granted bail but the judge ordered that Portable be remanded in prison pending the fulfillment of his bail condition.
