The Southeast Aviation Summit 2025 celebrated young excellence as 18-year-old Uyammadu Ifechukwu Franklin from Anambra won a scholarship to study Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, setting a new benchmark for youth inclusion in Nigeria’s fast-growing aviation industry.


A Landmark Summit for the Southeast

Held at EastWing Aviation Institute, Emene, Enugu, the summit highlighted Southeast participation in Nigeria’s aviation advancement.
It addressed the regional gap in aviation opportunities, encouraging skills training and youth empowerment through transparent competition.
The event combined mentorship, technical exposure, and celebration of leadership excellence in the aviation sector.

Christian Agadibe, Executive Director of the EastWing Youth Foundation, explained the event’s selection process.

“From hundreds of entries, only fifty candidates qualified for training in hospitality, tourism, and customer care,” he said.
Ten advanced to aviation and soft skills classes, while five reached the final evaluations.
Uyammadu Ifechukwu Franklin emerged as the overall winner, symbolizing the potential of Southeast youths in the industry.


Leadership and Corporate Recognition

Leadership recognition also featured prominently.
Hon. Beloved Dan Anike, Chairman of Enugu East LGA, received the Award of Excellence for youth and community development.
He has sponsored forty youths to the Lagos Aviation School and pledged more collaboration with EastWing Institute.
Represented by his Deputy, he expressed gratitude and reaffirmed continuous empowerment initiatives.

Corporate stakeholders were equally honoured.
Lofish Travel and Tour Limited received an award for its commitment to aviation growth in the Southeast.
Its Head of Administration, Chidimma, described the recognition as a motivation for innovation and regional development.

Other honourees included Governor Siminalayi Fubara as Best Governor and Igwe Sunday Nwobodo as Patron of EastWing Institute.
Erezek Concepts Nigeria Limited, Vimapote Investment Ltd, and Pentagon Shopping Mall also earned distinctions for excellence and service.


Expanding the Vision

Agadibe called for public-private collaboration to sponsor other finalists in aviation studies.
He emphasized that the summit symbolizes a new era of opportunity for the region’s young population.

The Southeast Aviation Summit 2025 demonstrated that purposeful investment in youth can redefine Nigeria’s aviation future.
The event’s success inspires Southeast institutions to nurture more innovators, ensuring the nation’s aviation ecosystem grows stronger, fairer, and globally competitive.
