“The welfare of pensioners is a top priority for me” – Frank Nweke Jr at Ugwu Aaron

 

Frank Nweke Jr, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance on Monday restated his commitment to the welfare of retiree workers and pensioners in Enugu State.

He said this while interacting with residents of Ugwu Aaron, a hilltop settlement, located off Aria Road, G.R.A, Enugu, on Monday evening.

Responding to a passionate plea by Deacon Ekoyo, he was emphatic about his promise to ensure that all pensioners receive their payments when due and would be paid their arrears.

“I understand that some pensioners are owed up to three years in arrears and some for much longer. It is my solemn promise that first of all, all payments will be made when due and all arrears will be accounted for and paid” Nweke assured.

Speaking further, he said that his administration will carry out a State’s Pensions Reform which would include the digitization of the civil service for ease of identification and remuneration, partnerships with Pensions Operators and the provision of other incentives such as health benefits to ensure that workers live comfortably in their retirement.

Also present at the session were Ndubuisi EnechiOnyia, Enugu State’s APGA party chairman, Nonso Nnamani, the APGA House of Representatives candidate for Enugu North and South Federal Constituency and Bethel Agu, the APGA House of Assembly candidate for Enugu North Constituency.
