The Enugu State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing clampdown on violent crime, arresting three suspected armed robbers and recovering firearms, ammunition, and other stolen property during separate operations in the state.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, and made available to Jungle-Journalist.Com, the operations took place between 18th and 20th August 2025, following credible intelligence reports.
On 20th August, operatives attached to the Command’s Agbani Area Command arrested Okafor Chukwuka, a 28-year-old male suspect, and recovered a locally made double-barrel gun from him. Preliminary investigations linked him to an armed robbery incident in Nara Unataeze, Nkanu East Local Government Area, about two weeks earlier, during which a motorcycle was snatched at gunpoint.
Similarly, on 18th August, officers attached to Udenu Police Division arrested two suspects—Emeka Odo (45) and Ugochukwu Eze (35)—at Obollo-Afor, Udenu LGA. During interrogation, Emeka confessed to robbing a motorcyclist on 7th August 2025, alongside an accomplice still at large, and later contacting Ugochukwu to buy the stolen bike.
Recovered items from the suspects include:
- One locally fabricated cut-to-size gun
- One live cartridge
- A battle axe and a cutlass
- Three solar panels, one solar battery, and one solar light
- An object suspected to be a charm
The statement noted that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reiterated the Command’s commitment to eradicating crime in Enugu State and urged residents to provide timely and credible information to the Police to aid proactive security measures.
