Twelve members of the Jehovah’s Witness community have lost their lives in a fatal accident along the Owerri-Onitsha Road, Imo State.
The victims, including eight adults and four children, were travelling from Anambra to Agwa village, Imo, for a religious gathering when their bus collided head-on with a gas tanker reportedly driving against traffic near Njaba Bridge around 9 p.m. on Sunday.
Eight others sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at Divine Hospital, Awo-Omamma, while the deceased have been taken to Ogbaku Mortuary.
🚨 Police Response
Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, expressed condolences to the bereaved families, warning motorists against reckless practices such as wrong-way driving and excessive speeding. He confirmed that the wreckage has been cleared and investigations are ongoing.
