USAfrica Founder Chido Nwangwu bestowed with honorific title ‘Ihe ka ego’


On the 27th of December 2021, in the historic Arochukwu ancient kingdom of Abia State in Nigeria, Eze Ibom Isii, HRH Dr. Kanu Nwa Kanu, conferred USAfrica multimedia networks’ Founder, Dr. Chido Nwangwu, the honorific and significant title of ‘Ihe ka ego’ [Something or someone whose worthiness is greater than money].

Nwangwu who established USAfrica 29 years ago in Houston, has said “I’m very humbled and thankful for this special title, ‘Ihe ka ego’. For me, it’s an affirmation and recognition for my modest strivings to fly the triple flags of personal dignity, dedication to professional excellence and heritage rootedness, globally.”

Eze Kanu has been on the throne for 25 years. Chido who was represented at the event has said that “We regard Eze Kanu highly for his wisdom, purpose and sagacity.”

Dr. Chido Nwangwu is recognized as an original digital content creator, multimedia strategist and facilitator, cross-cultural business and messaging specialist.

He established the 1st African-owned, U.S.-based professional newspaper published  on the internet  USAfricaonline.com.
In July 2017, Dr. Chido Nwangwu received a U.S. Congressional Letter of Recognition for USAfrica’s 25 years, noting that “Your service is truly worthy of the respect, admiration, and commendation of the United States Congress.”

Regarded as an influential analyst of United States and Africa business, international security and diplomacy matters, Dr. Chido Nwangwu has appeared several times on CNN, CNN International, SKY News [London], the Voice of America/WorldNet, Black Entertainment Television (BET) news, and a number of local U.S. tv and radio stations.

He is author of the forthcoming 2022 book titled ‘MLK, Mandela & Achebe: Power, Leadership and Identity.’

He is the Founder & Publisher of USAfrica magazine [print], CLASSmagazine [print] and several web sites and blogs.

He served as adviser on Africa business and issues to former Mayor Dr. Lee Brown of Houston (America’s 4th largest city).

Chido has been honored by the Washington-D.C.based National Immigration Forum for utilizing the media to fight authoritarianism and fostering freedom of expression in parts of African continent.

He has served on the board of the oldest civil rights organization in the United States, NAACP, Houston chapter.

Chido is the first continental African to be admitted to the influential 100 Black Men of America.

He served as a panelist at the 2000 British Broadcasting Corporation/Public Radio International global technology forum in San Francisco, California.

Chido is a graduate of Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, class of 1987.

He served on the editorial board of the Daily Times of Nigeria in 1989 into 1990; 1988-1989 assistant editor of Platform magazine, Africa and The World journal.

He began his professional career as a very young man in the news, sports and programs production/camera/editing departments of the Nigerian Television Authority Aba, in the 1980s.

He is a weekly Friday columnist for the influential ThisDay (Lagos) and contributes to The Mail & Guardian of South Africa, ModernGhana, SaharaReporters, Houston Chronicle, and numerous U.S.-based and Africa issues publications.

Dr. Chido Nwangwu has two sons: Chido II (graduating in Computer Engineering), Chima, and wife, attorney Chinwe Nwangwu.

Dr. Chido Nwangwu speaks at schools, universities and businesses on cross-cultural diversity matters and technology issues, especially how the unfolding digital transformations, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet affect Africans, African-Americans and recent immigrants.
