Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to turn the southeast into the Taiwan of Africa.
He noted that the region possesses the human capital to be able to achieve this.
He spoke at the Ebonyi State APC presidential rally/governorship campaign flag-off at the Pa Oruta Ngele Township stadium.
He said what the southeast needed to achieve this is for government to create enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the region.
He said his government will build the necessary infrastructure like roads and railways and negotiate with agitators in the region to achieve peace and security.
He said if elected, his administration will invest massively in education.
“Education is the greatest weapon against poverty. We will reform the education sector,” he promised.
The rally, which is ongoing has in attendance Governors David Umahi(Ebonyi); Babagana Zulum (Borno); Abubakar Bagudu (Kebbi); Mohammed Badaru (Jigawa); Hope Uzodimma and Ben Ayade (Cross River).
The Vice Presidential Candidate of the party, Kashim Shetima and National Chairman of the party, Adamu Abdullahi represented by the Deputy National Chairman, South, Emma Eniukwu.
In a related department, the Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers Council has conferred a traditional title on Bola Tinubu.
According to Chooks Oko, an aide to the Ebonyi State governor, Dave Umahi, the APC candidate was given the title of ‘Dike Di Ora Nma’ which means ‘Hero that is loved by the people.’
The conferment took place during a town hall meeting on Wednesday in the state.
