Tears Flow As 4 Mothers Murdered By Mkpurummiri Addict Are Buried (PHOTONEWS)

Four women, brutally killed by a man high on drugs (mkpurimmiri) on June 20th were today, Friday August 25 buried in Imeoha Nkerefi Autonomous community.

Recall that four women working in their various farms were attacked by a farmer from Ezza, Ebonyi State who allegedly went into the bush to take drugs, after eating.

The killer, blinded by the drugs, had charged out of the bush to the women’s farms, cutting them each down, as if he was cutting grasses.

Although he had attacked six women, two of the women managed to escape with serious injuries. They are still in the hospital.

The deceased include Mrs Comfort Chukwu Benjamin Akpuru, Mrs Chinyere Mary Onu, Madam Ogeme Agnes Nwoyi and Madam Nwakaego Auguston Opionachie.

Those who escaped death with serious injuries include Mrs Chinyere Odih and Mrs Ngozika Akpu.

Earlier on Friday, 25th August 2023, the community, led by His Royal Highness, Igwe Luke Ogbuta Okorie gathered to give the deceased a befitting burial.

Speaking at the funeral service which took place at Igwebuike Secondary School, Imeoha Nkerefi, the officiating priest encouraged the families of the deceased and members of the community to take heart and be strong in the face of the unfortunate incident.

Also speaking, the member representing Nkanu East and West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Nnolim Nnaji prayed for the family to bear the loss. He also pledged to enhance security in the community by making legislations at the national assembly to that effect.

In his own speech, Nkanu East Local Government Area Chairman, Hon Sidney Okechukwu Edeh asked Nkerefi people to be comforted. He also pledged to provide support for the family of the deceased, as well as those who were still hospitalised.

Also in his words, the ruler of Imeoha, His Royal Highness, Igwe Luke Ogbuta Okorie prayed for the souls of the dead, and affirmed that they have paid the Supreme price, but that their deaths have become a sacrifice to ensure that no such incident ever happens in Nkerefi land.

He comforted the people, and stated that the four women would be celebrated, as they have become a bridge blocking such heinous killings ever in the community. He also placed a flag on the coffins, as a sign of glory for the dead.
