It was enshrined in the constitution that government should protect lives and property, but it is now obvious that the Federal Government down to the Local Governments neither protect life nor properties.
Politicians, it is always about them, politicians that can’t fix the road or fix borehole for the people or even build health center in their communities.
We have Minister of Health who can’t regulate the pharmaceutical stores, a country where people can walk into the pharmacy without prescription, what a failed and abysmal failure.
I’m using this to call out the Minister of Health and Commissioners across the 36 states to ensure that they regulate the pharmacy and also make it easy for the citizens to have access to medical care.
We must change the mindset and move forward as a country, too many infant mortality and death rate.
In a damning indictment of the Nigerian government, healthcare professionals and activists have criticized the lack of regulation of pharmacies, nurses, and doctors across the country. The widespread presence of unlicensed practitioners in the healthcare sector, known as quacks, has led to a number of preventable deaths and illnesses, as well as perpetuating a vicious cycle of mistrust in the healthcare system.
Chief Dr Patrick Osagie Eholor argued that the failure of the government to enforce existing regulations or create new ones to address the issue is indicative of its disregard for the health and safety of Nigerian citizens.
In addition, many experts point out that the lack of oversight and accountability in the healthcare sector has resulted in an influx of substandard and counterfeit medications. This has created a dangerous environment where patients are unable to access reliable, high-quality drugs, leading to disastrous consequences for those who rely on these medications for their health.
The situation has also led to a lack of confidence in the medical profession among the general public, with many people choosing to avoid seeking medical treatment altogether for fear of being duped or mistreated by quacks.
