Chairman Ndi Omenana Oba, Hon Chief Dr Emeka M Obienu (Ogodo Oba), has greeted the new Igwe of Oba Kingdom and Ezeokpoko II, Engr Sir Augustine Chinedu Emelobe, over his successful election.

Speaking at the Palace of the Igwe on Saturday, 15th March 2025, Obienu stated that the emergence of Emelobe, even after the election was held for a second time, is a testament that he is indeed chosen by God to lead the community.

He also said that the love Oba sons and daughters have for one another also played a major role in ensuring that the election was peaceful and conclusive, even as he commended the Electoral Officers and the entire Oba people for their peaceful conduct.

He finally prayed for a long life for the king and a successful reign on the throne.

His words: “

“Oba people love themselves, and we have come together to agree that Engr Dr Augustine Emelobe will be our Igwe. We said it, and we voted for him with one voice. Therefore, I know that whatever he wants, Oba people will give it to him, whatever he needs for him to excel as the traditional ruler of this community, Oba will ensure that he gets it in abundance so that the love we have for one another will be reflected in his leadership and success.

“Wherever anyone is, let them be aware that we now have a traditional ruler who is fit to carry our people to where we deserve to be. I want to thank every person who has contributed to the success of the entire electoral process.

“I pray for long life, joy and prosperity for anyone who has helped to make today a success. I also pray for our new Igwe, Engr Emelobe, that he may live long into old age, rule our people with wisdom and understanding, and bring prosperity and development to our land.

Daalunu, nke onye chiri, ya zelu!”, he stated.
