… As Zulu Ofoelue Team Bows Out Gracefully

It was a historic day in the life of the Association of Nigerian Authors, (ANA), Enugu State Chapter, on Wednesday, the 16th of April, 2025, as the association conducted its elections to usher in a new phase in its eventful history.

In a keenly contested election which saw the frontline stakeholders across Enugu State participating, a veteran author and senior lecturer at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Dr. Adaobi Nwoye emerged new Chairman of the association while Dr. Louis Ezema, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, clinched the organisation’s Vice Chairmanship position.

Held at the Press Center, Enugu, and conducted by  a 3-man Electoral Committee, headed by Associate
Prof Greg Mbarjiogu, an artiste and scholar of Theatre Arts in the University of Nigeria Nsukka and comprising Ms Netty Ejike, (a former State Chairman of ANA) and Sunday Ogbonna, (a former State Secretary), the elections were adjudged free fair and credible by every standard, in all quarters.

In the elections, Olive Chinyere Amajioyi emerged the association’s General Secretary while Princess Sarah Akpu, Comrade Anidiobu and Ozo Ejike Okpe emerged the Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Director of Information, respectively.

Administering the Oath of Office on the brand new executives while also inaugurating them into their various offices, Hon Justice George Nnamani, who is the President of Enugu State Customary Appeal Court and an author of well over a dozen best-selling books, charged them to drive ANA Enugu to new dizzying heights.

In a spirit-lifting acceptance speech on behalf of other elected officers of ANA, the new Chairman, Dr Nwoye, pledging to take ANA Enugu to the promised land specially appreciated the outgoing Zulu Ofoelue administration for what she described as, “its sterling leadership”.

However, on hand to participate in the historic elections were some other notable, veteran and frontline members of ANA, Enugu, such as Prof Jerry C. Chukwuokolo, Dr. Uche Anioke, Ifeoma Iwu and Maureen Atuonwu.

Others were Emeka Ukwuaba, Eluke Festus, Greg Akosa, to mention but a few.
